Building is Booming in Kent County

Front of house rendering2013 has been a year of growth for new home, apartment and condominium starts in Kent County. Through October 2013 builders have reported an 18% increase in single family housing starts. This puts us over 100 building starts ahead of where we were at this time last year.

Many people think building a home may be out of their price range, but that may not be the case! According to this article from mlive.com, More than half of the building permits pulled this year were for projects under $300,000, with 29% valued between $150,000 and $199,999. With home sale prices in Kent County averaging just under $155,000 so far this year*, this means many prospective buyers may be within the building budget.
